Loren Hoopiiaina Shaw began his studies in art at a young age in Washington State at the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics where he studied all forms of art from sculpture to animation. In high school he focused on watercolor painting due to its unique unpredictable nature and started taking college art classes through the running start program. He attended college at UH Manoa in Hawaii where he continued his studies in painting, drawing and graphic/web design. While in school he began his art career by performing spray paint art on the streets of Waikiki creating images of the islands beauty mixed with the classic outer-space style of street painters. Thanks to customers from around the world he was able to get his paintings in homes on almost every continent in just a few years. He moved from the streets onto the stage and began painting live with local reggae bands and larger touring acts including Groundation, Eek a Mouse, Mike Love, Pato Banton, Sister Nancy and Winston Jarrett. Over the past few years he has been working on a new back-lit illuminated art project, perfecting the fine art of lighting and color manipulation. Merging original paintings and digital art he often works with various concepts and subjects including animals, sacred geometry, abstract, psychedelic and visionary imagery. Using the light to morph and change the art he has brought a static image to life creating a living optical illusion where parts of the image change and disappear creating a fun and interactive experience for the viewer. With the lighting built into the art works the vibrancy of the light really shines through and creates a unique ambiance. He has been doing small gallery events and art shows at music venues and is emerging into the art scene on the west-coast but still has much expansion ahead. He has been featured at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, Las Vegas at the Champs Trade Show, Hightimes Cannabis Cup in Denver and San Francisco, COZ lounge in Oakland, and is the in house artist at the Applegate Lodge in Oregon. He is also featured at the Love On Haight Store in the Haight and Ashbury district of San Fransisco. He is currently working with Melvin Seals and the JGB and has multiple artworks that are shown on his East Coast tours. Striving to bring his passion for art, creativity and beauty to the world he is always working to create new artworks and explore new mediums. Lately he has been making many custom artworks for people who have a vision or a dream but maybe not the means or time to bring it into fruition. He hopes to inspire and grow creativity in the world through his unique artworks opening up peoples imaginations and minds.
